The Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Jeffrey Woolverton as Executive Director

BROOKHAVEN, Ga.— In an exciting step toward fostering economic growth and expanding its reach, the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce has appointed Jeffrey Woolverton as its new Executive Director. With an extensive background in driving strategic direction and a passion for community development, Woolverton brings a wealth of experience to this innovative and collaborative role.

In more than 10 years since its launch, the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce has seen substantial growth in both business memberships and sponsorship support, with further expansion expected. Woolverton will use his decades of experience in nonprofit management and leadership, and work closely with an engaged Board of Directors, to direct this strategic growth.

“We are thrilled to have Jeffrey join us at the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce,” said Dennis Williams, Chairman for the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. “His expertise and vision will be pivotal as we work to deepen our impact and expand our reach. With Jeffrey on board, we’re confident in our ability to revitalize operations, significantly increase Chamber revenue and membership, and build a strong, recognizable brand for the Chamber within Brookhaven.”

Woolverton brings more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning, nonprofit management, and fundraising to the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce.

In 2020, he joined the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) as its new Philanthropy Director where he transformed fundraising capacity and increased giving across a network of more than 300 organizations. At INN, Woolverton created tools and resources for nonprofit organizations to increase their skills for major gift fundraising — notably, he created the News Giving Roadmap, a unique program that helps nonprofit organizations assess their strengths and create actionable plans to strategically grow revenue.

In 2021, he joined the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) as its first Chief Development Officer. At ICIJ, Woolverton served as the organization's fundraising executive and oversaw a team of professionals who generated revenue through fundraising activities including foundations, corporations, and individual donors. As Chief Development Officer, he established new fundraising goals and approved strategies designed to maximize ICIJ’s long-term sustainability.

Previously, he held senior roles at Boys & Girls Clubs of America where he led a team that doubled major gift contributions over two years by raising more than $200 million in 2019. To do that, he created fundraising services and resources, including a library of templates, toolkits, and training modules based on industry best practices.

As Executive Director, Woolverton will be responsible for the overall management, growth, and strategic direction of the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce. “In today’s evolving economic landscape, we expect Jeffrey’s expertise in strategic leadership to be an invaluable asset to our organization,” said Williams.
